How Many Faces

published on September 27th, 2006 . by Vanaja

There are 11 faces in the picture. Can you find them all?
For a clearer view you can click the picture and download it. Or press F11.

Normal people find 5 or 6.If you find 8 you have a good sense of observation.
(Of course observation is very essential for learning Mathematics)

If you find 9, your sence of observation is above average.

If you find 10,you are a very good observer.

If you find 11, you are an extreamly good observer.

The Magic Triangle?

published on September 18th, 2006 . by Vanaja

See the picture below

Can you tell me the answer?

It’s an optical illusion. The hypotenuse of both triangles seem to be straight lines but they’re not.
I think the answer lies in the fact that neither shape is actually a triangle, they are quadrilaterals. They have four sides.

The side that looks like it is the hypotenuse is actually two sides, the corner being where the green and red triangle.
I have searched the web and find an answer here.

If you have any good explanation about this please let me know.

Why do we see Illusions ?

published on June 29th, 2006 . by Vanaja

I’m not a master in this field. But I did some reasearch. I have got these explanations.

The Human brain put images together because they have learned to expect things, and sometimes the data might get a little confused. We may see an illusion because we know what we are expected to see, even though part of a picture or design may not be completely there. The basis of this is in how we perceive things. That almost explains everything right there. If our brain and eyes did not function like they do, we would not see illusions like we do.One example of optical illusion is the computer.Sometime when you have a chance, look at a computer screen really close for a minute or two. You will notice that you computer screen is made up of tiny red, green, and blue dots. The illusion is, you see more than just red, green, and blue dots; you see thousands of different colors. Our brains put the red, green, and blue dots together to make the colors.Optical illusions just trick you into seeing something else. They are an error in our perception of the illusion.

Read this sentence:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE- SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIF- IC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS.

Now count aloud the ‘ F’ s in that sentence.Count them ONLY ONCE; do not go back and count them again.

Answer below….

ANSWER:

There are six F’s in the sentence. One of average intelligence findsthree of them. If you spotted four, you’re above average. If yougot five, you can turn your nose at most anybody. If you caught six,you are a genius. There is no catch. Many people forget the OFs. The human brain tends to see them as “V’s” instead of “F’s”.
